ime is a brief kiss, not an eternity. Each second wasting away under torturous mental stress. Under physical and subconscious stress. Eventually, that stress needs an outlet. I'm Mashaal Virk, and I made Happy Student Life to act as that outlet. When I got the idea for this non-profit organization, it was from the recent uproar in school shootings. It was from the shed tears and the countless claims of, "I wish I woul've done something before it happened. I wish I could've prevented it." It's a repeating trend I noticed. Someone, most usually a student, wants help but doesn't know how to seek it; so they take it out through death, despite the numerous silent but still screaming signs they leave. And we ignore them under the excuse, "it's just kids being kids."
Why do we wait to help?
I created Happy Student Life as a wake-up call. As a tool to help ourselves, and the people around us. You can't change the situation, but you can change your reaction. Something I noticed in the student population is we build up repressed stress. That stress can be from anything, no matter how small it is, our reactions vary. The way it affects us differs. But nevertheless, it comes out as things like smoking, drugs and violence. That's the universal reaction to hard situations. Happy Student Life is another way out.
Loneliness, depression, and anxiety in teens can be helped by just a simple conversation. I made this non-profit to connect students with other students, mentors, and therapists, and to help those kids reach help instead of leaving those neglected signs.
The road won't change but we can change our direction. We can build our own yellow brick road instead of following the more-traveled road. And we can help others find their road too. Happy Student Life is an outlet to those negative emotions. Don't wait till you see more tears run like rain, but make your own sunshine. It's okay, life is a tough crowd, but it's never too late to be brand new.
